Directions

Writing your review:
  1. Look over your notes and worksheets from your Lit Circle to help you start thinking critically about your book.
  2. Once you are ready to start writing, begin filling out the Book Review Template. Once you have completed the template, review what you have written for completeness, clarity, and correct grammar and spelling.
  3. Follow the directions below to add your review to the blog.
Creating a new post in Blogger:
  1. Go to http://gslisprepreads.blogspot.com/
  2. Click “Sign In” in the top left corner and log in to your Gmail account.
  3. Now that you are at the Blogger Dashboard you will see GSLIS Prep Reads! listed under your blogs.
  4. Click on the orange button with a pencil on it to create a post.
  5. The title of your post should be the title of the book you are reviewing
  6. Using the Book Review Template listed above, complete your book review.
  7. To insert an image of your book, click the picture icon near the middle of the top toolbar. On the left menu, select, “From a URL.” Copy and paste the URL of the image into the box. You can find an image’s URL by right clicking on it and selecting, "Copy image URL" or “Copy Image Address.”
  8. Once you have inserted an image, select it to format it. Select “Medium” and “Left” alignment.
  9. Now that you have added an image and complete the rest of your review, you can add labels. Select “Labels” on the right sight of the screen to add subject tags. Put commas in between your labels.
  10. When you are done typing your labels, click done.
  11. Once you have added a title for your post, added an image, completed the Book Review template for your book, added labels, and reviewed what you have wrote, you are ready to publish your post.
  12. Click the orange button at the top right of the screen (near where you entered your title).

Reminders:


  • Use your own words and ideas. Do not copy a summary or review from another source. Taking someone else's words without proper citation is plagiarism. This will result in a zero for this assignment and additional consequences. 
  • Think about what your are going to write before you start writing.
  • Be mindful of your spelling and grammar.
  • Never use inappropriate language.
